Introduction

This site will take you through the French and English art of 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries as seen from the perspectives of the royalty and of the "commoners" of the period. Monarchic propaganda will be contrasted with drawings and cartoons from the average person's perspective. Surrounding  this contrast, historical context will be provided.
